Barak Ben-Gal currently serves as vice president and controller of SupportSoft, Inc. Previously, he served as the director of corporate finance for Yahoo! in Sunnyvale, California. During his Residency, Ben-Gal worked with Oakland Unified School District starting as a special assistant to the state administrator, then became the executive officer of financial services and eventually OUSD’s budget director. In his role as budget director, Ben-Gal was instrumental in implementing weighted student funding in Oakland. Prior to joining the Residency, Ben-Gal served as director of strategic planning for Mediaplex, Inc., a San Francisco-based technology and media company. He began his career as a management consultant with LEK Consulting. Ben-Gal has also served as a Board Fellow with the Full Circle Fund, a Bay Area social venture network, and was a Project Entrepreneur at Ashoka, a global social venture organization. Ben-Gal holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University and a master’s degree in education and a master’s degree in business administration from Stanford University. Ben-Gal participated in The Broad Residency in Urban Education Cohort 2004, serving his two-year Residency in Oakland Unified School District.
